The house is taking on a new look! It's neat because we are slowly seeing the things that we selected and wanted taking shape. After some delivery issues with Pacific Sales, we finally received the major bathroom appliances. Tomorrow we will probably go through them all and make sure it's what we ordered. We opened a few boxes today and were amused to see the new toilets with their buttons on top instead of a regular flusher. I guess the minimal water use aspect of it is one of our efforts to go green. The floors in the master match (woohoo!) and the wall is up in the new closet. We no longer have access to the garage or laundry area from our bedroom...no turning back now. Definitely a "woah" experience. We created two completely different rooms! It feels so...permanent. I'm sure it's normal to experience a range of emotions when it comes to major construction on a house. The master bath has the pipes and electrical for the recessed lights now, and about half of the house now has the baseboard we selected. It is the little things that I barely noticed had changed that are strangely enough getting me excited. I almost completely missed the baseboards, but when I saw it I immediately thought, "hey! we picked that one!" Nick met up with me at the house and we walked through again, tossing out ideas as to what we wanted in the bathroom and setup for the master.
Eddie and his crew have been working six days each week, but are taking this weekend off. They'll be back to work on Monday. There is still a ton to do, but we are still hoping to be finished (at least with the most important major stuff) in 3 weeks. Our inspector will come to the house this week to approve the pipes and electrical. Once we have that okayed then we can close up the walls in the bathrooms.
This Tuesday is the tech scout with the HGTV people. I didn't think I would be able to make it due to work, but as my schedule worked out, I switched my day off with a co-worker so I can make it! Nick and I will meet the folks of the HGTV show Hammer Heads at the house so they can go through the kitchen and make sure any red flags don't pop up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly- this is the real determining factor of whether or not they choose to continue with our kitchen. I'm so nervous!!! We have new electric paneling that was put in a few days ago. Also at the tech scout we should get a better idea as to what they are going to do to the kitchen.
This weekend with be a little crazy...a movie is being filmed at Karen's house so it's me, Nick, Teddy, Lily, and Biscuit in my studio apartment. Hopefully we'll get around to buying items for the windows...
Here's a video mini walk through of the changes...sorry, the second half of the video is sideways. For some reason I thought that when I turned the camera sideways that the view would still flip to being upright...oops. I'll put up a better video this weekend.
